Very severe cyclonic storm Nivar made landfall near Marakkanam in Tamil Nadu in the early hours of Thursday, 26 November 2020 and moved inside Tamilnadu causing heavy rains and strong winds in various districts.
Ramakrishna Math, Thanjavur, a sub-centre of Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, distributed relief materials to 75 affected gipsy families at Pudukkudi around 32 kms away from Thanjavur. In this backward area, the livelihood of people got highly affected due to the cyclone.
5 Dec ’20: The centre distributed cooked food for 130 people.
6 Dec ’20: The centre distributed food materials such as Rice 5 kgs, Dal 1kg, Oil 250 ml, Chilli and Tamarind powder 200 gms each, Sugar 1/2 kg, Salt 1kg and a plastic mat per kit.
Apart from these the centre also distributed tarpaulin seats with rope for 50 affected families.
