Flood Relief: Dibrugarh, July 2024

Ramakrishna Mission, Dibrugarh, Assam


Ramakrishna Mission, Dibrugarh, in collaboration with Ramakrishna Vivekananda Seva Ashram (North Lakhimpur) and Ramakrishna Seva Samity (Dhemaji), conducted flood relief operations in Lakhimpur and Majuli districts of Assam. The district administrations of both districts provided full cooperation.

First Phase of Relief Work

Lakhimpur District

  • Survey: A two-day survey was conducted on July 4th and 5th to assess the affected areas.
  • Relief Distribution: Relief kits were distributed at two camps on July 5th and 6th.
  • Coverage: Seven villages were covered, including Shantipur, Chenga Mari, Kahiduwa Kangkan, Ali Chinga Pakna, Balma, Bishnupur, and Phukan Dolani.
  • Relief Kits: A total of 289 relief kits were distributed.


Majuli District

  • Survey: A three-day survey was conducted on July 4th, 5th, and 6th.
  • Relief Distribution: Relief kits were distributed at a camp on July 7th.
  • Coverage: Nine villages were covered, including Jugunidhari, Auniati Alimur Gaon, Auniati Bhakar Chapary, Alimur Missing Gaon, Nam Bathiamari, Upper Bathiamari, Sonaribari, Kolakhua, and Boritika.
  • Relief Kits: A total of 650 relief kits were distributed.

Contents of Relief Kits

Each relief kit contained the following items:

  • Rice
  • Dal (Pulse)
  • Potato
  • Onion
  • Soyabean
  • Edible Oil
  • Salt
  • Biscuits (only in Majuli district)
  • Bath Soap
  • Vim Bar
  • Ration Bag

Note: The specific quantities of each item varied slightly between Lakhimpur and Majuli districts.
