Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Medinipur, Initiates Flood Relief Efforts in Interior Villages of West Bengal

Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Medinipur, has organized a comprehensive flood relief operation in the interior villages of West Bengal. Commencing on September 24, 2024, the mission has provided essential relief supplies to over 1,200 families in the affected areas.

Relief efforts have been focused on the following villages:

  • Mansuka G.P (Kishorchak & Harishkundu): September 24, 2024
  • Mansuka G.P (Rasikpur, Nijamansuka, Madhabchak, Tulsirampur & Bahirsinghapur): September 25, 2024
  • Gahtal 9 No G.P (Elochak, Nimpata, Bangral, Mugral, Chakmandaria, & Anandapur): September 26, 2024

Relief packages include essential items such as biscuit packets, murhi, chira, sugar, surf, soap, Amul milk, drinking water bottles, and bleaching powder. These efforts have been carried out in collaboration with the Bhab Prachar Parishad centers in Masuka and Ghatal.

Due to the remote nature of these villages, the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama has been the first organization to reach the affected areas. The villages are located approximately 1.5 hours away from Ghatal Town by boat.

To address the immediate healthcare needs of the flood-affected population, a medical camp was organized on September 24, 2024. The camp, staffed by three doctors, provided medical assistance to over 160 patients.

On September 30, 2024, in the Ghatal block, distributed relief packages to over 600 families in the areas of Ajab Nagar, Gholpara, Kandarpchak, and Kharagpur North & South. These packages included essential items like biscuit packets, murhi, chira, jaggery, surf, soap, Amul milk, mustard oil, turmeric, chili powder, and drinking water bottles.

Our Bhab Prachar Parishad center in Mansuka and the Ghatal Sarada Seva Sangha assisted in these relief efforts. These villages are quite remote, located about half an hour by car from Ghatal Town.

Additionally, organized a medical camp on September 30, 2024, staffed by two doctors. This camp provided medical assistance to 73 patients in the area.
