Background
The city of Vijayawada was severely impacted by heavy rainfall and flooding in September 2024. Low-lying areas, such as Vaddera Colony of Payakapuram, suffered significant damage due to the breach of the Budameru canal. Many families lost their homes, belongings, and essential supplies.
Ramakrishna Mission’s Response
In response to the crisis, the Ramakrishna Mission, Vijayawada, implemented a two-phase relief program to assist the affected families.
Phase I: Ration Kit Distribution (September 16, 2024)
- Items distributed: Rice, wheat, lentils, oil, sugar, salt, spices, and other essential food items.
- Quantity: 1200 kilograms of each item.
- Beneficiaries: 1200 families.
Phase II: Clothing Distribution (September 30, 2024)
- Items distributed: Sarees, lungis, and gamchas (towels).
- Quantity: 1800 sarees, 1890 lungis, and 1200 gamchas.
- Beneficiaries: 1200 families.

Impact
