Ramakrishna Mission, Kalyani commemorated Sri Sri Janmashtami with a series of spiritual and charitable events. The celebration began with a special puja honoring Sri Sri Thakur, Holy Mother, Swamiji Maharaj, and Sri Krishna, followed by a “Gopal Pujan” and a “Satprasanga.”
In the morning, the Ashrama organized a “Gopal Pujan” in the prayer hall. This event involved offering school supplies to needy male students from nearby schools. A total of 52 students participated, receiving school bags filled with notebooks, pencil boxes, cakes, and umbrellas, along with packets of sweets. The ceremony commenced with Vedic chanting and concluded with peace chanting, after the students were warmly welcomed with tilak and garlands.
In the afternoon, the “Satprasanga” began with devotional songs at the Vivekananda Auditorium. The Ashrama Secretary welcomed the participants and guests, and Swami Ritananda ji from Belur Math graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Successful students from a previous quiz competition were awarded books, and a first-year undergraduate student received a set of books under the Swami Prameyananda Book Bank Scheme. Revered Maharaj delivered a discourse on “Sri Krishna: The essence of Ishwar-Avatar.” The program concluded with a concluding song, attracting around 250 devotees.
The day-long celebration concluded with a “Shyamnam Sanmkirtanam” following the Vesper Service, marking a joyous end to the Janmashtami festivities at the Ramakrishna Mission, Kalyani.
