On the sacred Birth Tithi of Swami Shivananda Maharaj, December 26, 2024, the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati, inaugurated its newly constructed Charitable Dispensary-cum-Diagnostic Centre and Guest House at Chatribari, Guwahati. The inauguration was graced by Swami Bodhasarananda ji, Assistant General Secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math.
A public meeting was organized to commemorate this auspicious occasion. The event was attended by 31 monastic members from various Ramakrishna Mission centers and a large gathering of devotees and well-wishers. Prominent dignitaries, including representatives from NRL, NHM (Government of Assam), and Sri Sankardeva Netralaya, also honored the ceremony with their presence.
The meeting commenced with Vedic chanting by the monks, followed by the felicitation of dignitaries. In his welcome address, Swami Atmashuddhananda, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati, expressed profound gratitude to sponsors, devotees, and well-wishers for their unwavering support and encouraged all to participate in this noble initiative. Swami Achyuteshananda ji, Trustee of Ramakrishna Math and Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar (Arunachal Pradesh), highlighted the Ashrama’s journey since its inception and commended its steady progress over the years.
Speeches by Dr. Lakshmanan S., Mission Director of NHM, Government of Assam, Dr. Harsha Bhattacharjee, President of Sri Sankardeva Netralaya, and Sri Kajal Saikia, Chief General Manager (HR) of NRL, enriched the gathering. They lauded the significant contributions of the Ramakrishna Mission in education, healthcare, and welfare activities in the Northeast region.
In his presidential address, Swami Bodhasarananda ji emphasized the global impact of the Ramakrishna Movement, noting that the Mission now operates 338 centers worldwide. He highlighted its commendable work in healthcare, education, and the publication of literature on Ramakrishna-Vivekananda-Vedanta philosophy. He specifically praised the Ashrama’s efforts in addressing healthcare needs for the underprivileged.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Bhabesh Kumar Das.
In the afternoon, a cultural program featuring devotional songs performed by monks and devotees added a spiritual dimension to the day’s events.
Bhakta Sammelan at Ulubari
On December 27, 2024, a Bhakta Sammelan was held at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Ulubari. The event was attended by 230 devotees, who were enlightened by inspiring speeches from Swami Bodhasarananda ji, Swami Achyuteshananda ji, and other senior monks.
