Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, constructed two new buildings (HPCL Block and Vasanth Chandrasekharan Block) in the rural centre at Meyyur. The buildings were inaugurated by Srimat Swami Gautamananda ji, Vice-President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, on 23 August 2023.
The rural centre also started a new Computer Centre and tailoring Unit, which was inaugurated by Dr. Alby John Vergese, IAS, District Collector, Thiruvallur, on that day.
A public meeting was arranged on that occasion where the invited dignitaries were felicitated. The Chief Guest was Dr. Vergese.

For the past 32 years Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai has been doing various rural welfare activities. As part of it, the Math has adapted Meyyur village and also nearby hamlets Gurupuram and Vembedu in Thiruvallur district around 60 kms from Chennai.
Various Service Activities at the Meyyur Rural Centre :
- Free Tution : 100 students are given free tuition.
- Saradama Balamandir summer camp
- Medical camps
- Non-Formal Education
- Tailoring, preparation of Sambrani and Incense, Relief measures.
- Free Meals : Around 60 senior citizens are given free meals every day.
- Distribution of Clothes : Around 200 senior citizens are given dress materials every year.
