On January 24, 2025, a significant milestone was reached at Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar, with the inauguration of Shivananda Bhavan, a state-of-the-art two-storey staff quarters. This modern building, situated in the heart of the campus, exemplifies the Mission’s commitment to providing its staff with comfortable and functional living spaces. The foundation stone for Shivananda Bhavan was laid by Revered Swami Suviranandaji Maharaj, General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, on January 24, 2023.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Revered Swami Bodhasaranandaji Maharaj, Assistant General Secretary of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math. He was joined by Swami Achyuteshananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar; Swami Arunatmananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Digboi; and Swami Divayavibhananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Dibrugarh, along with other monastic members, students, teachers, and staff members.
The ceremony began with a special puja and havan, accompanied by the melodious chanting of Vedic mantras, stotras, and bhajans, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. In his address, Swami Bodhasaranandaji Maharaj reminisced about the early days of the Mission in Narottam Nagar, highlighting the challenges faced when the region was a dense forest with limited access. He expressed his immense satisfaction at witnessing the remarkable progress made in transforming Narottam Nagar into a thriving center of education and development.
On this occasion, Swami Bodhasarananda ji also planted saplings at the Akhandananda Orchard near the Vivekananda Cottage at Narottam Nagar centre.
Prior to the inauguration, on January 23rd, Swami Bodhasaranandaji graced the annual prize-giving ceremony at the Vivekananda Sabhagriha of the Ramakrishna Mission School, where he interacted with and inspired the young minds. He also toured the construction sites of the upcoming hostel and other buildings, showcasing the Mission’s ongoing efforts to enhance its infrastructure. In the evening, he visited Mopaya, a tribal hamlet, where he was warmly welcomed by the villagers and witnessed their vibrant cultural performances. He concluded his visit with a visit to the Ramakrishna Sevashram in Deomali.
