Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama, Kalady, orchestrated a series of spirited events in honor of National Youth Day 2024, commemorating Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary, a celebration initiated by the Government of India since 1985.
The event spanned two days, with diverse competitions for students across various educational levels.
Day 1: January 4, 2024 On the inaugural day, students from Higher Secondary and College levels participated in essay writing and elocution competitions in English, Malayalam, and Sanskrit. The event witnessed enthusiastic involvement from students representing schools in Kalady, Angamaly, Malayattoor, Kanjoor, and Thiruvankulam areas. Swami Srividyananda, Adhyaksha, addressed the assembled students and teachers in the Ashram auditorium, shedding light on the purpose behind these competitions. Retired Professor Smt. Usha from Shankara College also shared her insights. The welcome and vote of thanks were extended by Sri Jayakumar K, Headmaster of BHS, and Smt. Jessy, Headmistress of BJBS, Kalady, respectively.
Day 2: January 5, 2024 The second day featured competitions for Lower Primary and Upper Primary students, engaging them in story-telling and recitation in English and Malayalam. The event aimed to foster the expressive skills of these younger participants. Swami Akshayananda, a senior monk, emphasized the importance of acquainting students with the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda from an early age. Headmistress Smt. Sumadevi and Sri Manu Sir from BJBS, Kalady, conveyed the welcome and vote of thanks, respectively.
Swami Brahmaparananda, along with the National Youth Day Committee, visited 71 educational institutions in and around Kalady, extending personal invitations to students and teachers, encouraging their participation in these National Youth Day Celebrations.
Prizes will be distributed on 12th January 2024, the concluding day of National Youth Day celebration at Agamananda Open Auditorium in BHSS,Kalady at 11.00 am.
