Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati commemorated Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas (Tribal Pride Day) on November 24th and 25th, 2024, at the Ashrama premises in Guwahati and Gopal Krishna Tea Estate in Morigaon district, respectively.
Activities at Ashrama Premises, Guwahati (November 24th):
- Off-campus cleaning by Students’ Home Boys
- Tree plantation in the Ashrama premises by Students’ Home Boys
- Discussion on the life and contributions of Bhagawan Birsa Munda, the leading tribal freedom fighter
Renowned speakers, including Sri Dhiresh Narayan Chowdhury (Retd. Justice) and Padmasree Ajoy Kumar Dutta, shed light on the life and contributions of Birsa Munda and other tribal freedom fighters.
Activities at Gopal Krishna Tea Estate Playground (November 25th):
- Discussion on the life and contributions of Bhagawan Birsa Munda, the leading tribal freedom fighter
- Tribal dance performance by students of Gopal Krishna Tea Estate Adarsha Vidyalaya
- Distribution of 110 copies of the book “Mor Bharat Amar Bharat” in Assamese to students
Swami Atmashuddhananda, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati, along with Sri Narayan Kumar Radu Kakati (Ex-President of Tiwa Autonomous Council), Sri Bapuram Majhi (Tribal Social Worker), and Sri Subrata Sarkar, spoke about the contributions of tribal freedom fighters to the Indian independence movement.
These events aimed to honor the rich cultural heritage and significant contributions of tribal communities to India’s history.
