Manasadwip: Amphan Cyclone Relief Services


Ramakrishna Mission Manasadwip started Amphan cyclone relief services to aid families affected by the Cyclone Amphan which wreaked havoc on 20 May 2020.

After conducting primary relief, the ashrama is now engaged in rebuilding roofs of the broken houses of 202 houses of Purushottampur and Raspur villages of Sagar block.

In the first phase, Manasadwip ashrama started work for renovation of badly affected 36 houses out of which 32 houses are from Raspur villages and 4 houses are from Purushottampur villages. Out of 32 houses of Raspur village reconstruction of roofs of 28 houses has been completed and 4 houses are under construction. Roof reconstruction work of 4 houses of Purushottampur is under construction.

The ashrama also distributed building materials (asbestos sheets, GI pipes, tin, motka, tarpaulin and bricks) to rebuild roofs of 154 houses of Purushottampur. Work has already been started.

In addition to it, the Manasadwip ashrama will also rebuild walls of 6 houses completely damaged by Amphan super-cyclone.

The ashrama has distributed 200 kg flatten rice, 100 kg sugar, 200 packets of biscuits 100 kg of chola sattu, 100 kg of Muri, 40 kg of milk powder, 100 kg of musur dal, 60 kg of soyabean, 100 lt of mustard oil, 100 kg salt among 200 families of Rudranagar village on 25 June 2020, with the financial help received from Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Sevashrama, Durgapur.

Moreover, the ashrama distributed school dresses among 195 students and learning materials among 200 students of Baghbazar, Chemaguri, Sapkhali and Purushottampur villages.


The centre provided shelter to 1100 persons and served 14,337 plates of cooked food to 2865 families in Purushottampur, South 24 Parganas district, from 19 to 23 May.
