Ramakrishna Mission, Jammu, observed the 36th National Youth Day on 12 January 2020.
Program in the Jammu University:
It was for the first time that Ramakrishna Mission was allowed to organize a program in the University of Jammu. As a part of the National Youth Day this year Swami Atmashraddhananda from Kanpur came and delivered a lecture at the Seminar Hall, MCA Department, University of Jammu on 9 January 2020. The program was attended by about 200 Faculty Members, Lecturers, Professors, students and scholars.
Program at the Ashrama:
The National Youth Day – 2020 was celebrated through a colorful program consisting in Debate competition, quiz competition, story-telling, Bhagavad-Gita chanting, patriotic songs and dance, cultural dances – Dogri as well as Ladaki traditional dances, a drama on Swamiji’s life, lectures, on 12 January 2020 from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm in the Ashrama Auditorium. Swami Sujayananda from Gwalior inspired the audience through his beautiful speech. The program was presided over by Sri Suresh Kumar Sharma, Former member of PSC of Jammu & Kashmir. Swamiji’s books were given to all. It was attended by 450 students and Principals/teachers, and devotees and admirers. All felt happy to witness such beautiful programmes.
Previously, an Inter-School Quiz Competitions were organized from 6 November to 14 November 2019 in 10 local schools. In the Competitions 650 students participated from 9 schools. The subject of the competition was: The Life and Message of Swami Vivekananda. The toppers were awarded with the prizes in the programmes held in every school from 25 to 29 November 2019 in which Swami Vedasarananda from our Ranchi TB Sanatorium centre delivered a motivational speech in all schools on the subject, How the Modern Youths Can Develop Their Personality? These programmes were attended by as many as 1200 students and 75 teachers and also non-teaching staff of the schools. 1500 books on Swamiji were distributed among the students and teachers.
In connection with National Youth Day 2020, a two-day long Kabaddi tournament was organized on 3rd and 4th January 2020. The number of participating teams was 8, from Govt. Degree College, SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu and Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama Kabaddi team and other 5 local teams.
