The National Youth Day was celebrated at Ramakrishna Math, Bolpur in a befitting manner with its usual grandeur. A colourful procession was held in the morning with the participation of students of our Primary School and the students from local 6 schools. The procession started at 7.30 a.m. and was led by the Band troupe of the NCC unit of Bolpur High School. A vibrant tableau was decorated with the cutout of Swamiji for the procession. The total number of participants was more than 800 and it also included the members of the local Sarada Pathachakra. The procession concluded at the Math at about 9.15 a.m. when the participants were served tiffin packets.
A Youth Convention was held in the afternoon from 3.00 p.m. with 300 enrolled delegates from the local Schools, Colleges and Universities. Due to the constraint of space the participation from each institution was restricted to 15. Sri Jiban Bandopadhyay was the Guest-in-chief and Swami Buddhishanandaji and other youth volunteers spoke on the occasion. A “giti-alekhya” was performed by the teachers of the primary School. A small gift containing Swamiji’s books was given to all the participants of the convention and tiffin packets were served at the end of the convention.
