Ramakrishna Mission, Digboi celebrated National Youth Day on 12th January 2024 and organised a procession from 7.45 AM to 9.00 A.M. in the morning. The procession started from the Ashrama and circled popular places in Digboi. School students, devotees along with Ashrama volunteers participated in the procession. Refreshments were served to everyone.
Earlier a series of Art, Quiz, Singing and Essay Competition from 17th December 2023 to 7th January 2024 was organised in different schools. On 12th January 2024 evening from 6.45 PM a cultural programme was started with lighting of lamps and ‘Vedic Chanting’. Sri Gautam Purakayastha, Vice-Principal, Digboi College; Sri Jayanta Mahanta, Retd. Deputy Director, Food And Civil Supplies Consumer Affairs, Tinsukia; and Swami Aruatmananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Digboi, spoke on Swami Vivekananda’s view and his contribution to Indian Independence. Swami Vivekananda’s ‘Swadesh Mantra’ was also recited by the students and speakers. Prizes were distributed among 42 winners from the different categories of the competitions held. The singers who won the prizes were given the chance to perform in the dais. One of the volunteers also spoke on Swamiji who participated in the Belur Math Youth Convention. During the entire programme about 60 students, teachers, and devotees, guardians were present. Refreshments were served to all after the programme.
