Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Kankhal, vibrated with youthful energy on National Youth Day as over 250 students from 9 educational institutions converged to celebrate Swami Vivekananda’s inspiring vision.
The festivities unfolded with a warm welcome, where young minds were fueled for the day with breakfast and tea. Our dedicated monks and volunteers then embarked on a campus tour, immersing the students in the rich tapestry of Sevashrama’s activities.
A solemn yet vibrant air filled the atmosphere as dignitaries garlanded the statue of Swami Vivekananda, paying homage to his timeless message. To ensure Swamiji’s wisdom continued to blossom in young hearts, each participant received a treasure trove: a Swamiji poster, a pocket-sized book of his words, his pictorial biography, and the Swadesh mantra.
The stage program pulsated with life, starting with the resonant strains of Vedic chanting. School children then took center stage, showcasing their talents through diverse cultural performances and inspiring yoga asanas. Applause filled the air as 60 students were awarded prizes featuring Swami Vivekananda’s literature and articles, recognizing their dedication and potential.
Each teacher who embarked on this journey with their students received a thoughtful memento: a 2024 diary and calendar published by the Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad, a constant reminder of the enriching experience.
Swami Srimohanananda then took the stage, offering a captivating glimpse into the world of Ramakrishna Mission, with special focus on Kankhal Sevashrama and its mission. The day was further enriched by insightful addresses from esteemed dignitaries – Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank Ji (Member of Parliament Haridwar Lok Sabha), Shri Mahendra Ji (Kshetra Pracharak Ji, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Western Uttar Pradesh Uttarakhand Region), and Dr. Meenu Singh Ji (Director AIIMS, Rishikesh) — each illuminating different facets of Swamiji’s message and its relevance to youth.
