January 12th, 2024, dawned bright for the Ramakrishna Math in Madurai, pulsating with the spirit of National Youth Day. The day unfolded with a series of events honoring Swami Vivekananda’s birthday and his inspiring message for the youth.
Commemorative Conch Blowing
The day began with a soulful ceremony at 6:33 am, the exact time of Swamiji’s birth. The beautifully decorated statue of Swami Vivekananda, standing gracefully in front of the Math campus, witnessed an Arati performed amidst the melodious blowing of conch shells. Chanting of Namavalis and Bhajans filled the air as devotees, around 30 in number, offered flowers to Swamiji, expressing their reverence and gratitude.
Empowering Youth: The National Youth Convention
Following the morning ceremony, the Math hosted a vibrant Youth Convention, welcoming 1304 students from 11 different higher secondary schools and colleges. The students, brimming with enthusiasm, engaged in a day brimming with knowledge and inspiration.
Swami Kamalatmananda’s inspiring address set the tone for the convention, offering guidance and encouragement to the young minds. Swami Arkaprabhananda then delivered a captivating keynote address, delving into Swami Vivekananda’s life and teachings. Special speakers further elaborated on Swamiji’s message, igniting the spirit of self-belief and service in the young audience.
Adding a touch of artistic expression, the students of Sarada Viyavanam Madurai enthralled everyone with their melodious songs about Swami Vivekananda. As the convention concluded, each student received a Tamil book titled “My India The India Eternal,” carrying with them a piece of Swamiji’s wisdom and a reminder of their potential to shape a brighter future.
