The National Youth Day was celebrated in Mysuru under the auspices of Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru on 12th January, 2024. About 1000 students from 7 schools including Ramakrishna Vidyashala participated in the celebration.
In the afternoon at 3 PM, the students along with teachers, monks and devotees gathered in front of Swami Vivekananda’s statue in Cheluvamba Park. Swami Muktidanandaji, Adhyaksha of Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru performed aarti to Swamiji in the presence of all.
Soon after, a procession commenced in which all the gathered students carrying banners and placards with Swamiji’s message walked for about 2 km towards Sri Ramakrishna Vidyashala. They were followed by a chariot carrying Swamiji’s big portrait. The students then gathered in the Vidyashala campus and were served refreshments.
This was followed by a one-hour programme in the open-air theatre with Swami Muktidanandaji, Swami Yukteshanandaji, and Swami Mahamedhanandaji on the stage. Selected students from different schools then presented patriotic songs, recitations from Swamiji’s lectures, and speeches on Swamiji in both Kannada and English. Books and mementoes were given to them.
Snacks were served to everyone at the end of the programme.
