On 12th January 2024, the National Youth Day was observed by the students, teachers, devotees and monastic members of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Viveknagar, Agartala.
The day began with a vibrant procession through the streets of Agartala, marking the commencement of the National Youth Day celebrations.
Distinguished guests, including Hon’ble Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Chief Justice of Tripura, Jc. (Retd.) S. C. Das, Commissioner, Tripura Police Accountability Commission, and Swami Shubhakarananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Viveknagar, were welcomed at the Vivek Udyan.
A solemn ceremony was held to pay floral tributes to Swami Vivekananda, whose teachings and ideals continue to inspire generations of youth.
In the 2nd session of the morning programme, guests were warmly received at the Viveknagar campus by the Swamis, teachers, and students. Floral tributes were offered at Swamiji’s feet, signifying reverence for his spiritual legacy.Â
The auspicious occasion began with Vedic chanting by monks and Brahmacharins, followed by an opening song by the students, titled “Kshatro Veerya Brahma Teja….”
The theme of the programme was “Celebrating the Power of Youth: Embracing Swamiji’s Vision”. A series of inspiring speeches and addresses took center stage:
- Welcome Address: Swami Shubhakarananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Viveknagar, Agartala
- Recitation of Swadesh Mantra: Sri Bishal Debbarma, Student, RKMV, Viveknagar
- Speech by Kumari Ankita Nath: 1st Prize Winner — Gr. A, Speech Competition (Topic: Swamiji’s Vision for Youth)
- Speech by Sri Shivaditya Saha: 1st Prize Winner — Gr.B, Speech Competition (Topic: Role of Youth in Nation-Building)
- Address by the Special Guest: Sri N.C. Sharma, Director of Secondary Education, Govt. of Tripura
- Address by Sri Dipak Majumder: Hon’ble Mayor, Agartala, Municipal Corporation
- Address by Sri Sushanta Chowdhury: Hon’ble Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs of Tripura
- Address by Sushri Pratima Bhoumik: Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India
Prizes were distributed to the winners of various cultural competitions held in the lead up to National Youth Day.
The evening session at Vivek Udyan featured engaging discourses on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda, interspersed with vibrant cultural performances.
