Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Asansol, in collaboration with its School Alumni Association, celebrated National Youth Day on January 12, 2025, with great fervor and in two phases.
Phase I: Morning Rally
The day began with a grand rally starting from the old Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama More to Vivekananda Park near the new Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama campus, covering a distance of 8 kilometers. Approximately 6,000 participants, including students from 13 schools (both boys and girls), members of 8 organizations, devotees, monks of the Ashrama, and dignitaries such as the Minister of West Bengal, AMC officials, and ADDA representatives, joined the event.
The rally commenced at 7:30 a.m., showcasing the spirit of unity and reverence for Swami Vivekananda. At the conclusion of the rally, all participants were served cooked prasad and fruits.
Phase II: Classical Music Programme
In the afternoon, the celebrations continued with a classical music program, held for the eleventh consecutive year in collaboration with the ITC Sangeet Research Academy. The program took place in the Ashrama Auditorium and featured mesmerizing vocal and sitar recitals by renowned musicians.
The event began with an inaugural session, where the lamp was lit in the presence of distinguished guests, including Sri Kabi Dutta, Chairman of ADDA, Sri Amarnath Chatterjee, Chairman of AMC, and Sri Saradindu Dutta, Executive Director of ITC-SRA. Each dignitary delivered a brief but inspiring speech on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda.
Approximately 700 attendees enjoyed the soulful performances, which continued until the evening, providing a fitting conclusion to the day’s celebrations.
The two-phased celebration highlighted Swami Vivekananda’s ideals and inspired participants to imbibe his teachings in their lives.
