Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Chandigarh, organized National Youth Day celebrations on January 12, 2025, with the theme, “Relevance of Swami Vivekananda’s Message for Today’s Youth.” The event received an enthusiastic response, with 180 graduate students from NCC, NSS, and the Sampurna Yuva Vikas Program actively participating through speeches and poetry recitations centered on the theme.
Highlights of the Event:
- Chief Guest: Shri Siddharth Chattopadhyay (Retd. DGP – Punjab Police)
- Guests of Honour: Shri Manmohan Singh Kohli (Industrialist) and Major Neelam Kumari (Assistant Professor & NCC In-charge, GHSC Sec 11, Chandigarh)
The program commenced with Deep Prajwalan (lighting of the lamp), garlanding of Swami Vivekananda’s statue, and Vedic mantra chanting, followed by:
- Opening song and introductory speech by Swami Bhittitharananda.
- Inspiring speeches by the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour.
- A reenactment of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago Address and a recital of the poem Jagrit Devta by students of Bal Vikas Satra.
Special Features:
- Screening of the documentary “Swadesh Chetna” on Swami Vivekananda’s life and message.
- Exhibition of a stunning 3-D portrait art of Swami Vivekananda created by artist Varun Tandon.
Participants received Swami Vivekananda’s laminations and literature as tokens of appreciation, while all attendees were gifted literature on Swamiji’s teachings.
Attendance and Conclusion:
The program was attended by approximately 230 individuals, including students, teachers, devotees, and volunteers. The event concluded with a Prasad lunch, leaving everyone inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s timeless message.
