Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati, celebrated the 41st National Youth Day on 12th January 2025 with a series of programs aimed at inspiring and engaging the youth. The celebrations were held in two sessions:
Morning Session (8:30 AM – 11:30 AM)
The morning session focused on creative competitions:
- Art Competition: 203 students from different schools in Guwahati participated enthusiastically. The competition was divided into two groups: Group A (students up to Class V) and Group B (students from Class VI to VIII).
- Speech Competition: 28 students from Class VIII to Class XII showcased their oratory skills in the speech competition.
Afternoon Session (3:30 PM onwards)
The afternoon session commenced with a public meeting and prize distribution ceremony at the Vivekananda Hall. The program began with the chanting of Vedic hymns by the Ashrama’s monks, followed by an inspiring opening song rendered by Master Anupam Bhatt, a youth member.
Swami Atmashuddhananda, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Guwahati, welcomed the gathering and emphasized the importance of “Man-making” and “Character-building” education as envisioned by Swami Vivekananda.
The esteemed Chief Guest, Sri Diganta Biswa Sarma, an admirer of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda-Aurobindo and a renowned translator, delivered a thought-provoking address, highlighting Swami Vivekananda’s pivotal role in shaping modern India.
Swami Vikramananda, a monk of the Ashrama, inspired the students to cultivate the power of concentration and fearlessness, drawing upon the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda.
Prizes comprising certificates, photographs, and books of Swami Vivekananda were awarded to the winners of each competition. All participants received a copy of the book “Swami Vivekananda, the friend of all.”
Br. Devichaitannya of the Ashrama offered a vote of thanks, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
Approximately 400 individuals, including students, guardians, teachers, and devotees, attended the program, making it a memorable and enriching experience for all.
