National Youth Day 2025: Ponnampet

Ramakrishna Saradashrama, Ponnampet, Karnataka, observed National Youth Day on Saturday, January 11, 2025, as January 12, the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, coincided with a Sunday when educational institutions were closed.

The celebration commenced at the College grounds with a floral offering at the feet of Swami Vivekananda’s decorated portrait, placed on a vehicle. Students from 10 educational institutions gathered to honor Swamiji’s legacy. Following the flag-off, a vibrant procession marched through the main road with bands playing, devotional songs dedicated to Swamiji, and spirited chants of Jaikar. The procession concluded at the Ashrama auditorium.

The Youth Convention was held at the Swami Shambhavanandaji Auditorium. The program began with Vedic chanting by the monks of the Ashrama, followed by the lighting of the lamp and patriotic songs performed by students. Eminent speaker and writer Sri Chakravarthy Sulibele delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing Swami Vivekananda’s teachings. The event included the chanting of the Swadesha Mantra and concluded with the National Anthem. Approximately 1,200 students and youth actively participated in the program. Scholarships were awarded to several meritorious students from various institutions. The morning session ended with participants enjoying a lunch prasad.

In the afternoon, students from the Coorg Institute of Technology attended an interactive Youth Retreat conducted by Sri Chakravarthy Sulibele. The retreat offered an engaging platform for dialogue and inspiration.

The day’s events celebrated the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, inspiring the youth to embody his values and work towards building a stronger nation.
