Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Vrindavan

On 12th January, 2025, the 41st National Youth Day, marking the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, was celebrated with reverence and enthusiasm at the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Shillong. The event was graced by Swami Hitakamananda ji, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong, as the Chief Guest, along with dignitaries from Nehru Yuva Kendra and other revered monks.

The program began with a floral tribute at the statue of Swami Vivekananda, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and the chanting of Swamiji’s Swadesh Mantra. Students from the Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home opened the event with a soulful Khasi rendition dedicated to Swamiji, setting a serene and uplifting tone.

In his keynote address, Swami Hitakamananda stressed the importance of “man-making and character-building education,” as envisioned by Swami Vivekananda. He elaborated on Swamiji’s timeless message: “Purity, patience, and perseverance are the three essentials to success, and above all, love.” Highlighting the transformative power of these virtues, he encouraged the youth to embrace them and strive for excellence in their pursuits, while living a life rooted in truth, purity, and selflessness.

The celebrations continued with a vibrant cultural program featuring talented students from Sanskriti and the Vivekananda Youth Forum. The performances included melodious songs, graceful yoga demonstrations, and an exquisite presentation of Geeti Alekhya—a creative portrayal of Swamiji’s life interwoven with evocative music and storytelling.

The program concluded with an inspiring address by Swami Divyaswarupanandaji Maharaj, Assistant Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong. He called upon the youth to draw strength and inspiration from Swami Vivekananda’s teachings, urging them to actively contribute to the nation-building process with dedication and vigor.
