Revered President Maharaj will remain in Belur Math throughout October.

Swami Vagishananda ji will be in Belur Math from 16 to 22 October.

Swami Gautamananda ji will return to Chennai Math on 3 October after his visit to some of our centres in Karnataka.  He will be visiting Belur Math and Durgapur from 15 to 26 October and Bhubaneswar from 30 October to 1 November.

Swami Prabhananda ji is scheduled to visit Baghbazar Math, Kolkata, from 29 October to 12 November.

Swami Shivamayananda ji will return to Kankurgachhi Math on 8 October from Kamarpukur.  He will be visiting Belur Math from 16 to 22 October, and Barasat from 29 October to 2 November.

Swami Suhitananda ji will be visiting Kathamrita Bhavan, Kolkata, from 14 to 16 October, Kasundia centre in Howrah from 24 to 26 October, and Navadwip and Gurap from 30 October to 9 November.

All of them are in good health

A public meeting was held at Gol Park centre on 19 September; it was presided over by Swami Gautamanandaji and attended by 1500 people.  The General Secretary and others addressed the gathering.

A seminar was conducted in Sanskrit at Gol Park centre on 21 September.  It was attended by 600 people, comprising mostly lecturers and students of different Sanskrit colleges in Kolkata.

A youths’ convention and a valedictory meeting were held at Nazrul Mancha, a public auditorium in Kolkata, on the morning and afternoon of 27 September.  West Bengal Education Minister Dr Partha Chatterjee, and others spoke in the youths’ convention which was attended by 2500 youths.  The valedictory meeting was presided over by Swami Vagishanandaji.  The General Secretary gave the welcome address.  The Head of St. Louis centre in USA Swami Chetananandaji, Kolkata Mayor and Municipal Affairs Minister Janab Firhad Hakim, and others addressed the gathering of about 1500 people.

Chennai Math: (i) Cultural competitions in which about 5000 students from 125 schools in Chennai took part; winners were awarded prizes on 11 September.  (ii) A day-long seminar on ‘Hinduism for Youth’ on 21 September in which 220 delegates from different parts of India took part.  Swami Gautamanandaji inaugurated the seminar, which included paper presentations from a number of scholars and 24 participants.

Chennai Students’ Home: Cultural competitions on 13 September in which 200 students from 14 polytechnic colleges in Chennai, Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram districts participated.

Coimbatore Math: A public meeting on 13 September attended by 150 college students and devotees.

Coimbatore Mission Vidyalaya: (i) Cultural competitions at 12 schools and colleges in and around Coimbatore from 21 August to 9 September.  In all, 1931 students took part in the competitions.  At all the venues, the competitions were followed by a talk, an awards ceremony and a skit.  (ii) An oratorical competition and a prize-giving ceremony on 12 September in which 1260 students from 32 institutions took part.  (iii) A seminar on Hinduism on 19 September attended by 168 people.

Cooch Behar: A lecture and recitation programme at a college in Cooch Behar on 11 September in which nearly 200 students were present.

Cossipore: A public meeting on 14 September attended by 230 students and 40 teachers and others.

Davanagere: An elocution competition in September in which 800 students participated.

Dehradun: A youths’ convention on 12 September in which 325 youths took part.

Delhi: A national seminar on 7 September attended by 500 people.

Deoghar: Talks and screening of a documentary on 11 September.

Gadadhar Ashrama: A public meeting on 7 September attended by 80 people.

Gourhati: A youths’ convention on 21 September attended by 120 students and 15 others.

Guwahati: Cultural competitions on 8 September in which 230 students from 35 schools took part, and a public meeting on 11 September in which 400 people were in the audience.

Hatamuniguda: Cultural competitions from 4 to 8 September in which 400 students participated, and an interfaith meet on 11 September attended by 800 people.

Hyderabad: A day-long programme consisting of speeches, cultural events and a procession on 11 September attended by about 2000 youths.

Indore: A spiritual retreat on 15 September in which 150 devotees participated.

Jalpaiguri: (i) A public meeting in an auditorium in Jalpaiguri on 11 September attended by 900 people.  (ii) A series of programmes at the centre from 22 to 27 September consisting of conventions for devotees, youths, and military personnel; an interfaith meet; four public meetings and a few cultural events.  About 3000 people attended the programmes.

Jammu: A students’ convention on 11 September attended by 360 students from 10 schools.

Jayrambati: A procession, an elocution competition and a public meeting on 11 September.

Kadapa: (i) A youths’ convention on 6 September which was attended by 1100 students. (ii) A Vivekananda Ratha (carriage) was flagged off on 7 September.  It will pass through six districts in Andhra Pradesh in the next few weeks, disseminating the message of Swamiji.

Kailashahar: A public meeting at a college on 21 September.

Kamarpukur: A special talk on 11 September attended by 500 people comprising mostly students.

Kankurgachhi: A youths’ conference on 11 September in which 417 students and teachers from 30 educational institutions participated. 

Kanpur: A seminar on 11 September attended by 300 people.

Karimganj: (i) A youths’ convention on 11 September attended by 360 youths.  (ii) A devotees’ convention on 15 September attended by 250 devotees.  (iii) A talk by Swami Suhitanandaji on 24 September before 300 devotees.

Kathamrita Bhavan, Kolkata: A special lecture on 19 September.

Khetri: (i) A special talk on 4 September attended by 190 persons. (ii) A youths’ convention on 25 September in which 1362 youths took part.  (iii) A teachers’-parents’ conference on 26 September attended by 278 teachers and parents.

Koyilandy: A public meeting and a cultural programme on 29 September attended by 350 people.

Limbdi: A public meeting on 14 September attended by about 1000 students.

Madurai: A public meeting on 11 September attended by 700 students and 200 others.

Manasadwip: Cultural competitions on 1 September in which 203 students from 19 schools took part.

Mangaluru: (i) A meeting on 11 September attended by 650 youths.  (ii) Lecture programmes in 6 colleges in the month of September which were attended by 1850 youths in all.

Medinipur: Three conventions on 1, 11 and 19 September which were attended by 875 people altogether.

Mysuru: (i) A two-day seminar at the senate hall of the University of Mysore on 20 and 21 September in which 1100 delegates from different parts of Karnataka took part.  (ii) A spiritual retreat on 22 September which was attended by 300 youths.  

Nagpur: A special lecture before an audience of 300 people on 11 September.

Narainpur: A public meeting on 6 September attended by 1500 people.  Swami Gautamanandaji and others addressed the meeting.

Narottam Nagar: (i) Cultural competitions from March to September in which 1800 students from 12 schools in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh participated.  (ii) A public meeting on 11 September in which Sri Chowna Mein, Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, and others spoke.

Nattarampalli: A teachers’ convention on 24 September attended by 370 teachers.

Ponnampet: A spiritual retreat on 1 August, and youths’ conventions on 2 and 22 August.  In all, 526 people attended the programmes.

Porbandar: Ten workshops in the centre and elsewhere from 11 July to 16 August in which 1131 students from different schools participated.

Prayagraj (Allahabad): (i) Cultural competitions from 11 August to 8 September in which 600 school and college students from 37 educational institutions took part.  (ii) A public meeting on 11 September attended by 300 people.

Pune: (i) A devotees’ convention on 11 September attended by 250 devotees. (ii) A youths’ convention on 15 September in which 450 people took part. (iii) A teachers’ convention on 22 September in which 400 teachers participated. (iv) Lectures in 34 colleges attended by about 10,000 students.

Puri Mission: Sri Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Minister of State in the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, and others addressed a youths’ convention at the centre on 22 September in which 284 college students took part.

Purulia and Bagda: (i) Cultural competitions in which 4500 students from 132 educational institutions took part. (ii)  A students’ convention on 16 September.

Rahara: A students’ convention on 11 September which was attended by 700 students from 27 high schools.

Raipur: A public meeting on 3 September in which Swami Gautamanandaji and others addressed a gathering of 300 devotees.

Rajarhat Bishnupur: A public meeting on 19 September attended by 150 devotees.

Rajkot: (i) A symposium on interfaith harmony on 11 September. (ii) A youths’ convention on 19 September. (iii) Two dramas enacted on 27 September.  All three programmes were attended by 400 people.

Ramanathapuram: (i) Cultural competitions on 28 August in which 315 students from 11  schools and 2 colleges participated. (ii) Speeches and cultural events at a school in Ramanathapuram on 10 September which were attended by 600 students and 40 teachers. 

Shillong: (i) Cultural competitions in July and August in which 3500 students participated.  (ii) A public meeting at Raj Bhavan, Shillong, on 11 September in which Sri Tathagata Roy, Governor of Meghalaya, addressed the gathering.

Shimla: A public meeting on 11 September attended by 40 students and devotees.

Shyamla Tal: A students’ convention at a college in Tanakpur on 28 August in which 400 students took part, and a spiritual retreat from 11 to 13 September for devotees.

Shyampukur Bati, Kolkata: A procession by 350 people on 11 September.

Taki: Cultural competitions on 4, 6 and 7 September in which 155 students took part, a youths’ convention on 9 September and a devotees’ convention on 11 September which were attended by 400 people in all.

Tamluk: A students’ convention on 11 September attended by 311 students and 100 others.

Tirupati: A students’ convention on 5 September in which 200 teacher-trainees participated.

Vadodara: Two seminars on 10 and 11 September which were attended by 300 people in all.

Vijayawada: (i) A public meeting and a procession on 11 September in which nearly 500 people participated.  (ii) Cultural competitions for school and college students from June to September in which 32,391 students from 257 schools and 7000 students from 15 colleges took part.

Visakhapatnam: (i) An essay competition from May to August in which 5840 students from 152 colleges in four districts of Andhra Pradesh participated. (ii) A youths’ convention on 11 September which was attended by about 1000 youths.

Vrindaban: A youths’ convention on 14 September attended by 250 students.

Chittagong, Bangladesh: A special prayer session and two public meetings at the centre on 30 August which were attended by about 1000 people in all, and a meeting at a public hall on 31 August attended by 1500 people.

Faridpur, Bangladesh: A public meeting on 15 September attended by 350 devotees.

Netherlands: A public meeting on 15 September.

Phoenix, South Africa: (i) A seminar in Durban on 7 September in which 65 people took part. (ii) A public meeting at the centre on 9 September attended by 350 devotees.

Johannesburg sub-centre: A seminar at a public auditorium on 25 August in which 100 delegates took part.

Aalo centre conducted three health awareness camps in three nearby villages on 20 and 29 August and 12 September which were attended by 210 people in all.  The centre also conducted a medical camp in Mori village near Aalo on 12 September in which 80 patients were treated.

Asansol centre held a medical camp in Chittaranjan on 1 September in which 611 patients were treated by 8 doctors.

Delhi centre added a digital section to its public library in August.

Hyderabad Math observed the 20th foundation day of its Vivekananda Institute of Human Excellence by holding a convention for the faculty members of engineering colleges on 9 September and a youths’ convention on 10 September.  In all, 2300 people took part in the programmes.

Jalpaiguri centre conducted medical camps on 24 and 25 September in which a team of 20 doctors and 15 paramedical staff checked 1220 patients and prescribed medicines. A blood donation camp was also held on 25 September in which 43 people donated blood.

Madurai Math conducted a dental check-up camp on 6 September in which 62 students were examined and 48 of them were treated.

Malda centre held a medical camp at a village in Malda district on 15 September in which 127 patients were treated.

Further, Delhi centre conducted 29 eye surgeries in its clinic and gave 15 spectacles to patients in August.  All the patients were selected from the eye camps held by the centre earlier.  In the eye camp held in August, 118 patients were examined.

Delhi centre conducted 24 values education workshops in 13 towns and cities in different parts of India between 30 August and 28 September.  A total of 1754 teachers and 65 principals attended the  workshops.

Gadadhar Ashrama held (i) a students’ convention on 17 August which was attended by 80 students, (ii) a parents’ convention in a village in Bankura district on 8 September in which 245 parents and teachers participated, and (iii) students’ conventions at two schools in Hooghly district on 23 and 24 September, which were attended by 500 students in all.

Rajkot Ashrama held two-day residential personality development camps on 31 August & 1 September and on 21 & 22 September in which a total of 79 students participated.  The Ashrama also conducted, from 27 August to 25 September, 21 values education programmes in the Ashrama, and values education programmes at 45 schools in ten districts of Gujarat; a total of 21,772 students attended these programmes.

Vadodara centre conducted two values education programmes on its campus and another 44 programmes at an equal number of schools in six districts in September.  In all, 11,607 students participated in these programmes.

Mangaluru Ashrama conducted the following activities in August: (i) four cleanliness drives in Mangaluru involving 1675 volunteers, (ii) awareness campaigns for 24 days in which volunteers reached out to 1480 households in different parts of Mangaluru city, spreading awareness about waste management, (iii) cleanliness drives in 152 villages of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, (iv) magic shows on the cleanliness theme in 34 schools in Udupi district, (v) observance of Cleanliness Day in 130 schools in which about 13,000 children participated, and (vi) a seminar on Clean India on 9 August attended by 650 youths.

Swami Bhargavananda (Chittaranjan Maharaj) passed away at Dhaka centre on 12 September at 8.50 pm due to severe cardiac arrest.  He was 66 and had been suffering from diabetes, hypertension and other complications for several years.  Initiated by Swami Vireshwaranandaji Maharaj, he joined the order in 1972 at Shillong centre and received sannyasa diksha from his guru in 1982.  He served at Shillong, Dhaka, Dinajpur, Bagerhat and Narayanganj centers as an assistant and Faridpur centre as the head.  In April 2015 he relinquished headship of Faridpur centre due to health reasons.  Thereafter, he was living a retired life at Dhaka centre.  The Swami was polite, quiet and amiable by nature.

Br. Asangachaitanya (Maruti) met an untimely death at Belur Math on the evening of 28 September.  He was 32 and had been suffering from psychiatric problems for some years.  An initiated disciple of Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj, he joined the order at Hyderabad Math in 2010 and received brahmacharya diksha from his guru in 2016.  He served at Hyderabad, Rajamahendravaram, Vijayawada and Rishikesh centres.  Thereafter, he stayed for a short period at Bhopal centre and had come to Belur Math only a week before his passing away.
