Onam, a beloved festival observed by Hindus in Kerala, commemorates the annual visit of King Mahabali, a benevolent ruler, to his kingdom. This tradition stems from a boon granted by Bhagavan Vamana, the fifth avatar of Vishnu.
On September 14, 2024, Ramakrishna Math, Koyilandy joined in the festivities by distributing new clothes to the local community and students of the Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa.
The celebration commenced with prayers and traditional Kerala dance performances. Swami Bhavapriyananda of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram, Kozhikode, delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the significance of Onam and the importance of unity and compassion.
The event concluded with a delicious prasad feast enjoyed by numerous devotees and students from the fishermen community. This joyous occasion reaffirmed the enduring spirit of togetherness that defines Kerala’s culture.
