Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Chennai Conducts Orientation for Teachers

An exclusive Orientation Programme was organized by Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Chennai for the teachers of its four schools: Ramakrishna Mission Higher Secondary School (Main), Ramakrishna Mission Higher Secondary School (South), Ramakrishna Mission Matriculation Higher Secondary School, and Ramakrishna Mission Nursery and Primary School.

The program commenced with devotional songs presented by hostel students, followed by a benedictory address by Swami Padmasthananda, Secretary of the Ashrama. Swami Yadunathananda, Assistant Secretary, delivered a thought-provoking talk on “Ideal Teachers.”

The morning session featured a presentation by Sri V. Nandakumar, Director of Datta Educational Consultants, Chennai, on the attributes of a good teacher, teaching methodologies for 21st-century students, and innovative assessment approaches.

The afternoon session included a screening of the new documentary film “America’s First Guru” on Swami Vivekananda. Dr. Krishnaveni Hariram, a disciple of Pujyasri Swami Omkarananda, shared Swami Vivekananda’s inspiring message for teachers. Smt. Shanthi Sridharan, Founder & Director of Akaanksha – Centre for Learning, Training & Resources, provided insights on becoming a better teacher.

Approximately 145 teachers attended the program and received copies of Swami Rebuild India’s book “Rebuild India,” along with a pen, pouch, and notepad. Lunch, tea, and snacks were also provided.
