Rastriya Mahila Kisan Diwas, Ranchi, 2017

Divyayan Krishi Vijnan Kendra celebrated Rastriya Mahila Kisan Diwas on the 150th birth anniversary of Sister Nivedita with an objective to create awareness and to encourage the women farmers to take up different income generation activities in agriculture and allied sector and to recognize their invaluable contribution in Indian agriculture and economy and contribution of Sister Nivedita in empowerment of women through education and skill.

The programme was organized in collaboration with IFFCO with the theme “Role of Women farmers in enhancing Family Income through Agriculture and Allied Activities”.

Smt. Subhra Verma, Special Secretary, Agriculture Animal Husbandry and Co-operative, Govt. of Jharkhand was the Chief Guest of the occasion and other dignitaries like Sri Rajeev Kumar, Director Agriculture, Mrs. Renu Gopinath, CEO, Jharkraft and Small Industries Board, Mrs Anamika, AGM, NABARD, and Sri Vikas Kumar, Additional Director, Planning (Agriculture Department, Govt. of Jharkhand) graced the occasion as special guests. Swami Bhaveshananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Morabadi presided over the programme.

Two Technical Sessions were organized besides the Inaugural Session. During these sessions, Farm women were provided with information regarding bank linkage, rural crafts and enterprise development in agriculture and Nivedita’s role in women empowerment.

Around 300 farmwomen from different villages of Ranchi participated in the programme. Identified 16 rural women leaders were honoured with a shawl and books on Indian women during the programme. An essay writing competition was organized on the topic – ‘Role of Women in Agriculture’ and two women farmers were awarded as best essay writers.

Swami Bhaveshananda discussed the love and dedication of Sister Nivedita for the freedom and regeneration of India. He also emphasized her contribution in empowerment of Indian women through education and skill. Her life and teachings should be our source of inspiration and guidelines for women empowerment in our country.

Sri R. K. Singh State Marketing Manager, IFFCO presented welcome speech and Dr. Anjali Chandra conducted the programme. Dr. A. K. Singh, Senior Scientist of Divyayan KVK along with other scientists delivered lecture in the programme.

All guests and rural women leaders were given a packet of books containing life and teachings of Nivedita,  Swamiji’s idea on Indian women, etc.
