Fire Relief

Bangladesh: A major fire broke out in Patiya, Chittagong district, and burned down 22 houses. Chittagong centre extended a helping hand to the victims by distributing 220 kg rice, 22 kg pulses, 22 kg salt, 22 plates, 22 saris, 22 dhotis, 22 bedsheets, 22 blankets, 22 buckets and 11 kg detergent powder on 15 March.


Distress Relief

Kamarpukur

The following centres distributed items shown against their names to needy people:

India:

  • Belgharia, Kolkata: 158 kg puffed rice on 20 February.
  • Cooch Behar: 142 saris and 17 dhotis on 1 March.
  • Dehradun: 500 saris from 17 November to 29 January.
  • Digboi: 145 saris and 38 dhotis from 21 December to 9 March.
  • Hatamuniguda: 919 litres fruit juice, 734 notebooks and 504 pens on 10 and 12 March.
  • Kalyani: 320 kg rice, 80 kg puffed rice, 40 kg sattu (roasted gram flour), 40 kg pulses, 40 kg soya chunks, 160 kg potatoes, 80 kg salt and 160 packets of biscuits on 16 March.
  • Kamarpukur: 3060 saris, 100 dhotis, 16,080 notebooks, 6600 pens, 1100 pencil kits (each kit contained a pencil, a pencil sharpener, an eraser and a ruler), 240 school bags and 1100 umbrellas from 2 to 5 March.
  • Kharupetia: 100 lungis on 5 March.
  • Koyilandy: 70 saris and 20 dhotis on 1 March.
  • Krishnanagar: 15 kg milk powder, 132 dhotis, 50 uttariyas, 150 bars of toilet soap, 38 kg detergent powder, 150 bottles of hair oil, 150 bottles of body oil, 150 tubes of toothpaste, 150 toothbrushes, 150 tongue cleaners, 150 packets of biscuits, 150 notebooks, 150 pens, 150 pencils, 150 pencil sharpeners and 150 erasers on 10 and 21 March.
  • Madurai: Ration kits to 51 eye patients on 16 March. Each kit contained 1 kg semolina, 1 kg pulses, 1 litre cooking oil, 200 g chilli powder, 500 g sambar powder, 500 g tamarind, 1 kg sugar and 1 bar of bathing soap.
  • Mumbai: Ration and hygiene kits to 12 cancer patients between February and March. Each kit contained 2 kg rice, 2 kg flour, 1 kg pulses, 250 g soya chunks, 1 litre cooking oil, 500 g assorted spices, 500 g salt, 2 packets of biscuits, 1 bar of bathing soap and 80 g detergent powder.
  • Naora: 750 kg rice, 150 kg pulses, 750 kg potatoes, 150 litres cooking oil, 150 packets of biscuits and 150 children’s garments on 25 March.
  • Nattarampalli: 131 kg pulses, 119 litres cooking oil, 34 kg assorted spices, 119 kg salt, 12 kg tea powder, 119 kg sugar and 119 bottles of hair oil on 18 March.
  • Rajamahendravaram: 373 kg flour, 746 kg pulses, 746 kg semolina, 373 litres cooking oil, 163 kg groundnuts, 58 kg tea powder, 373 kg sugar and 210 khaki shirts (uniform) on 18 January and 2 March.
  • Ramharipur: 272 saris, 200 dhotis, 70 assorted garments, 10 children’s garments and 2 bedsheets from 8 December to 15 February.
  • Rishikesh: 1020 meals on 1 March.
  • Thanjavur: 30 stationery kits to students on 18 March. Each kit contained a pen, a pencil, a ruler and a geometry box.
  • Thirumukkudal: 300 kg rice, 90 kg pulses, 30 litres cooking oil, 24 kg assorted spices, 60 kg salt, 60 bars of bathing soap and 60 bars of laundry soap on 16 March.

Bangladesh:

Bagerhat: 100 saris, 50 lungis and 30 bedsheets on 27 and 28 February.

South Africa:

  • Durban: 411 meals, 432 kg rice, 82 kg flour, 75 kg pasta, 212 kg maize meal, 312 kg pulses, 130 kg porridge, 337 litres cooking oil, 155 kg salt, 162 cans of jam, 524 cans of tinned food, 520 packets of instant noodles, 150 litres fruit juice, 20 soup packets, 19,500 tea bags, 150 litres milk, 212 kg sugar, 50 loaves of bread, 120 candles, 350 matchboxes, 150 bars of bathing soap, 180 bars of laundry soap, 32 tubes of toothpaste, 28 ladies’ garments, 4 bedsheets and 5 pillows in March.
  • Phoenix: 150 meals, 1150 kg rice, 20 kg cereals, 105 kg maize meal, 20 kg flour, 25 kg pasta, 100 kg porridge, 525 kg pulses, 50 kg macaroni, 30 kg soya chunks, 950 kg assorted vegetables, 30 kg assorted spices, 155 kg salt, 1400 litres cooking oil, 490 cans of tinned food, 20 kg soup powder, 1400 sachets of breakfast cereal, 2335 packets of biscuits, 150 cakes, 362 kg snacks, 445 litres fruit juice, 12 kg sweetmeat, 225 loaves of bread, 125 kg assorted fruits, 4 kg food drink, 63 litres flavoured milk, 455 litres milk, 10,500 tea bags, 220 kg sugar, 210 matchboxes, 7 sets of kitchenware, 280 bars of bathing soap, 80 bars of laundry soap, 75 tubes of toothpaste, 60 toothbrushes, 768 sanitary pads, 280 adult napkins, 21 assorted bedding items, 14 blankets, 18 school bags, 187 notebooks, 17 erasers, 17 rulers, 300 educational toys, 15 packets of seeds, 2 prepaid electricity vouchers and 2 solar panels with LED lights in March.

Winter Relief

The headquarters and the following centres distributed blankets and winter garments, shown against their names, to needy people:

India:

  • Aalo: 61 jackets on 1 March.
  • Ajmer: 234 blankets and 234 jackets from 15 December to 22 February.
  • Bagda: 500 blankets and 500 jackets from 27 December to 10 February.
  • Darjeeling: 500 blankets and 500 jackets from 3 November to 2 March.
  • Dehradun: 2000 blankets and 300 jackets from 17 November to 25 February.
  • Digboi: 133 blankets from 21 December to 9 March.
  • Kharupetia: 290 blankets from 23 December to 5 March.
  • Kuralbhanga: 500 blankets from 13 December to 20 February.
  • Narottam Nagar: 306 blankets on 7 and 8 February.
  • Prayagraj: 500 blankets and 500 jackets on 3 March.
  • Rishikesh: 75 sweaters on 1 March.
  • Saradapitha, Belur: 1000 blankets from 28 November to 25 February.
  • Sargachhi: 500 blankets, 500 jackets and 100 chaddars from 20 December to 26 January.
  • Sarisha: 1060 blankets from 7 January to 24 February.
  • Shyamla Tal: 1000 blankets and 1500 jackets from 22 December to 3 March.

Mahakumbha Mela Relief

On the occasion of the Mahakumbha (Purnakumbha) Mela, Prayagraj centre distributed 5000 blankets and 5000 jackets, provided by the headquarters, to wandering monks and sanitation workers from 17 January to 19 February.


Economic Rehabilitation

Assam: Guwahati centre provided 12 sewing machines and 8 handloom machines (tantsals) to needy women on 9 March.
