Cyclone Relief

Tamil Nadu: In continuation of its relief operations among the people affected by Cyclone Michaung in December, Madurai centre distributed, in collaboration with Chennai Math, 1743 kg rice, 610 kg semolina, 252 kg wheat flour, 822 kg pulses and 1125 kg sambar powder among 422 families in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin) district on 28 December.


Flood Relief

Sri Lanka: In the wake of the floods caused by heavy rains in Vivekanandapuram, Batticaloa, towards the end of 2023, Batticaloa sub-centre of Colombo Ashrama served meals to 150 people from 2 to 9 January.


Disturbance Relief

Manipur: Continuing its relief operations among the victims of ethnic clashes which began in May, Imphal centre distributed the following items from 1 to 26 February in 11 relief camps and other areas among 362 families from Kakching and Bishnupur districts: 10 kg chira (rice flakes), 10 kg semolina, 53 kg pulses, 15 kg soya chunks, 12 litres cooking oil, 16 kg assorted spices, 1800 packets of biscuits, 4 kg Horlicks, 11 kg infant milk, 42 kg milk powder, 50 kg sugar, 60 steel plates, 216 tubes of toothpaste, 120 toothbrushes, 60 bottles of hair oil, 332 bars of bathing soap, 9 kg detergent powder, 21 dhotis, 375 pairs of socks, 356 thermal uppers, 120 thermal trousers, 21 shawls and 50 blankets.

Distress Rehabilitation

Maharashtra: Mumbai centre (i) excavated a well and installed a solar-powered drinking water system at Dhanoshi village in Palghar district: the facility was inaugurated on 31 January, and (ii) inaugurated two tailoring schools for women at Kusumbale Wadi village in Raigad district and Biraripada village in Palghar district on 29 and 31 January respectively.

Economic Rehabilitation

(i) RajasthanKhetri centre distributed 54 sewing machines to an equal number of poor women on 3 January.

(ii) UttarakhandKankhal centre distributed 6 electric rickshaws to as many needy people on 2 and 11 February.
