Disturbance Relief

West Bengal: The communal unrest in Murshidabad district led to the displacement of hundreds of residents from Dhuliyan town in Samserganj block; many of them took refuge in schools in the neighbouring Malda district. In response to the urgent need of these displaced individuals, Malda centre distributed the following items among them on 15 April: 355 packets of biscuits, 355 fruit cakes, 52 packets of malt drink, 355 towels, 355 tubes of toothpaste, 355 toothbrushes, 355 bottles of hair oil, 5680 sachets of shampoo, 355 bars of bathing soap, and 178 kg detergent powder.


TB Patients’ Relief

Mumbai centre distributed nutritional kits to 50 TB patients on 7 April. Each kit contained 1 kg rice, 4 kg flour, 1 kg pulses, 1 kg roasted gram and 1 kg roasted groundnuts.

The following centres distributed items shown against their names to needy people:

Hatamuniguda

India:

  • Aalo: 48 blankets and 352 jackets from 1 to 19 April.
  • Guwahati: 325 saris and 188 dhotis on 11 April.
  • Hatamuniguda: 715 litres fruit juice, 150 sachets of sauce, 68 kg energy drink,  565 pens, 565 packets of sketch pens, and 150 bedsheets from 13 to 22 April.
  • Kalyani: 320 kg rice, 80 kg puffed rice, 40 kg pulses, 40 kg soya chunks, 160 kg potatoes, 32 kg semolina, 40 kg sugar, and fruits on 20 April.
  • Koyilandy: 40 sets of shirts and trousers to as many auto rickshaw drivers on 14 April.
  • Manasadwip: 80 shawls on 7 April.
  • Nattarampalli: 186 kg pulses, 120 litres cooking oil, 42 kg assorted spices, 120 kg salt, 12 kg tea powder, 120 kg sugar, 120 packets of biscuits, and 120 bottles of hair oil on 22 April.
  • Prayagraj: 1750 kg rice and 350 litres cooking oil on 7 and 9 April.
  • Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair): 200 packets of biscuits, 100 pouches of flavoured drink, 100 saris, 200 notebooks, 200 pens, 100 pencils, 100 erasers, 100 bars of bathing soap, and 100 pouches of detergent powder on 30 March.
  • Thirumukkudal: 350 kg rice, 105 kg pulses, 35 litres cooking oil, 28 kg assorted spices, 70 kg salt, 70 bars of bathing soap, and 70 bars of laundry soap on 19 April.
  • Vadodara: 630 kg flour, 200 kg rice, 133 kg pulses, 73 litres cooking oil, 10 kg assorted spices, 40 kg salt, 80 kg sugar, 18 kg tea powder, and 15 bars of bathing soap from 6 to 22 April.
  • Viveknagar, Agartala: 1525 food packets to footpath dwellers from 25 March to 22 April.

Bangladesh:

Narayanganj: 375 kg puffed rice, 52 kg sugar candy, 1125 litres drinking water, and 300 packets of ORS on 4 and 5 April. Additionally, the centre set up a medical camp where 13 patients were treated.

Sri Lanka:

The Batticaloa sub-centre of Colombo branch distributed 375 notebooks, 150 pens, 150 pencils, 75 rulers, 75 geometry boxes and 75 school bags in April.

South Africa:

  • Durban: 1378 meals, 430 kg rice, 81 kg flour, 66 kg pasta, 210 kg maize meal, 386 kg pulses, 132 kg porridge, 3 kg soya chunks, 5 kg assorted vegetables, 325 litres cooking oil, 156 kg salt, 161 cans of jam, 510 cans of tinned food, 1040 packets of instant noodles, 130 litres fruit juice, 100 soup packets, 17,400 tea bags, 132 litres milk, 211 kg sugar, 80 loaves of bread, 3 kg butternut, 36 kg assorted fruits, 150 matchboxes, 130 bars of bathing soap, 180 bars of laundry soap, and 80 tubes of toothpaste in April.
  • Phoenix: 650 kg rice, 20 kg cereals, 60 kg maize meal, 120 kg flour, 15 kg pasta, 325 kg pulses, 15 kg soya chunks, 365 kg assorted vegetables, 35 kg assorted spices, 90 kg salt, 365 litres cooking oil, 180 cans of tinned food, 15 kg soup powder,  1400 sachets of breakfast cereal, 2860 packets of biscuits, 1500 cakes, 377 kg snacks, 485 litres fruit juice, 102 kg sweetmeat, 175 loaves of bread, 120 kg assorted fruits, 4 kg food drink, 73 litres flavoured milk, 285 litres milk, 6500 tea bags, 1 kg coffee, 85 kg sugar, 90 matchboxes, 55 bars of bathing soap, 55 bars of laundry soap, 12 kg detergent powder, 25 tubes of toothpaste, 60 toothbrushes, 320 sanitary pads, 134 assorted garments, 6 blankets, 13 school bags, 187 notebooks, 17 erasers, 17 rulers, 300 educational toys, 39 packets of seeds, and 2 prepaid electricity vouchers in April.

Distress Rehabilitation

Jharkhand: A community hall, built by Ranchi Morabadi centre at Tigra Nawatoli tribal village, situated 40 km from the centre, was inaugurated on 19 April.
