WINTER RELIEF
A total of 42,864 blankets and 1,12,205 winter garments are being distributed by 89 of our centres, among poor people affected by winter, flood, fire etc. in different parts of the country.
FLOOD RELIEF
Tamil Nadu: Copious rains brought in by the north-east monsoon in November caused flooding and severe water inundation in many areas of the state. Chennai Students’ Home conducted primary relief service in Nagapattinam and Thiruvarur districts by way of serving 28,040 plates of cooked food among 5982 persons and distributing 5000 kg rice, 1000 kg dal, 1000 kg sugar, 4700 assorted dry food materials and 1000 plastic mats among 3735 poor and needy persons from 7 to 18 November.
Gujarat: Continuing its flood relief work, Vadodara centre distributed 120 hand-carts among flood-affected people in Banaskantha district on 12 October.
West Bengal: In the wake of widespread flooding across West Bengal many centres continued their primary relief operation among the flood-affected families. Belgharia centre distributed 500 saris, 1200 blankets and 500 jackets in Paschim Medinipur district on 10 November. Gourhati centre distributed 300 blankets among 300 flood-affected families in Hoogly district from 5 to 20 November. Jalpaiguri centre 200 blankets among 200 flood-affected families in North Dinajpur district on 22 November. Saradapitha centre distributed 1232 kg assorted dry food materials, 184 packets of biscuits, 1078 assorted garments, etc. among 700 flood-affected families in Howrah district from 15 to 22 September.
FIRE RELIEF
Arunachal Pradesh: In response to two fire accidents in Tadin and Siyom villages respectively in the West Siang district, Aalo centre distributed 238 blankets and 38 sets of utensils among 38 families and stationaries (notebooks, pens, pencils, etc.) among 21 students on 13 August and 11 November respectively.
DISTRESS RELIEFÂ
To extend a helping hand to poor and needy people, 35 of our centres in different parts of the country have distributed 11,216 saris, 3298 dhotis, 29,396 shirts, 30,413 pants, 5790 tops, 1565 leggings, 9113 assorted garments, 2710 children’s garments, 133 towels, 120 bedsheets, 5350 belts, 5196 wallets, 25 pairs of socks, 4620 kg rice, 11,705 kg wheat, 722 kg dal, 225 kg chira, 190 kg sugar, 242 kg edible oil, 83 kg milk powder, 21 kg tea leaves, 22 kg coffee powder, 259 kg glucose, 17,125 notebooks, 14,040 pens, 1315 textbooks, 100 cooking stoves, 40 Cycles, 3 goats and 6 ducks among poor and needy people from April to November.
