Seminar and Other Youth Programmes: Almora, April-May 2022


On the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the Independence of India, Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Ramakrishna Kutir, Almora conducted a few programmes for the youth of the region.

Between 5th April and 27th April 2022, Ramakrishna Kutir, Almora, conducted school & college level competitions, on drawing, essay writing, and debate. 3017 students from 34 different schools & colleges participated in the first round from home centers in & around Almora City. First, Second & Third rank holders from each school and college in each category were selected for the second round.

On 28th April 2022, second round of drawing, essay writing, and debate competition was organized at Ramsay Inter College, Almora and around 500 students who qualified in the first round had participated.

On 11th May 2022, a programme was arranged at Kakrighat in which scholarship & study material were given to needy students. Students of Karkrighat spoke about Swami Vivekananda and played drama on his life. Around 100 students had attended the program.

On 12th May 2022, around 100 students of Government Inter College, Petshal, performed cultural program – Drama, speech and folk dance. Srimat Swami Suhitananda ji Maharaj delivered his benedictory address to the students.

On 15th May 2022, a seminar on “Swami Vivekananda’s vision of Independent India is the Responsibility of the Youth” was organized at Art Faculty, Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora where, 200 registered candidates, delegates, professors, P.hD scholars had attended. The Seminar was chaired by Rev. Swami Shantatmananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi, and Prof. NS Bhandari, Vice Chancellor – SSJ University, Almora were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. A few monks and professors also addressed the delegates.

On the same day, Regional University Painting Exhibition & Competition Chaired by Prof. Sonu Dwivedi, Dean Faculty of Visual Art & HOD Drawing & Painting, was organized at the Art Faculty Exhibition Hall. Around 100 participants of graduate, postgraduate & P.hd scholars level from Soban Singh Jeena, University, Almora took part. The winners were awarded with Prize & greeted by Swami Suddhidananda, Adhyakha, Advaita Ashrama, Mayavati.

On 17th May 2022, the Prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the competitions held on 28th April 2022 was conducted at Govt. Inter College, Almora. It was this college where Swami Vivekananda had delivered his first speech in Hindi & English on return from Chicago.
