Seminar-Workshop on ‘Samādhi’ in Indian Wisdom Traditions: RKMVERI, July 2025

Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute, Belur Math


On the occasion of the International Day of Yoga, the Department of Bharatiya Jnana Parampara under the School of Indian Heritage, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute (RKMVERI), Belur Math, organized a daylong Seminar on “Samādhi in Yoga-Vedānta-Bhakti-Tantra and other Bharatiya Jnana Parampara (Indian Wisdom Traditions)” at the Abhedananda Convention Centre, Belur Math.

Programme Highlights:

  • Invocation: Vedic chanting and a song on Samādhi composed by Swami Vivekananda, sung by Swami Shivapurnananda.
  • Welcome Address and Introduction to the Theme: Swami Atmapriyananda, Pro-Chancellor & Secretary, RKMVERI.

Scholarly Deliberations:

  • First and Inaugural Talk by Revered Swami Bhajananandaji Maharaj, Vice-President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.
  • Second Talk by Swami Japasiddhananda, former Head, Department of Sanskrit and Philosophy, RKMVERI.
  • Devotional Songs on Samādhi:
    • Song on Shiva: “Yogāsane mahadhyāne…” by Swami Vidyapradananda
    • Song on Kali: “Nibida andhare…” by Swami Sarvabhadrananda
  • Third Talk by Swami Tattwasarananda, Adhyaksha, Brahmachari-Prasikshana-Kendra, Ramakrishna Math, Belur Math.
  • Fourth Talk by Swami Vidyapradananda, Coordinator, Dept. of Sports Science & Yoga, RKMVERI.
  • Fifth Talk by Swami Atmapriyananda, Pro-Chancellor & Secretary, RKMVERI.
  • Closing Song: “Parama guru siddha yogi” — a tribute to Sri Ramakrishna composed by Kazi Nazrul Islam, sung by Swami Vidyapradananda.

The seminar brought together monk-scholars and seekers to explore the profound insights of Samādhi across various Bharatiya spiritual traditions, making it a deeply enriching and enlightening experience.
