Ramakrishna Math, Halasuru, Bengaluru, is commemorating two significant milestones: the 125th year of the Ramakrishna Movement in Halasuru and the Silver Jubilee of becoming a full-fledged branch centre of Ramakrishna Math, Belur Math. These celebrations honor the enduring grace of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda, and the tireless dedication of monks and devotees who have nurtured this spiritual movement.
This Math has been blessed by the presence of many revered luminaries, including Srimat Swami Brahmanandaji Maharaj, Srimat Swami Shivanandaji Maharaj, Srimat Swami Abhedanandaji Maharaj, and Srimat Swami Ramakrishnanandaji Maharaj, whose visits have added to its spiritual legacy.
Year-Long Celebrations
To mark these auspicious occasions, the Math has planned a series of events, including spiritual discourses, seminars, cultural programs, and community service initiatives, aimed at spreading the universal teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother, and Swami Vivekananda. These events seek to foster harmony and inspire spiritual upliftment.
Inaugural Function
The inaugural ceremony of the year-long celebrations was held on Kalpataru Day, 1st January 2025. The day began with Mangalarti, Vedic chanting, a special Puja, Homa, and Bhajans, followed by a talk on “Kalpataru Sri Ramakrishna” by Swami Sukhatmananda ji.
The second session, held in the Sabhangana, opened with Vedic chanting by monks and Brahmacharins and an opening song by Vidwan Sri Gururaj. The Welcome Address was delivered by Swami Bodhaswarupananda, followed by the formal inauguration of the celebrations by Swami Muktidananda ji, Adhyaksha of Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysuru, who also gave the inaugural address.
Swami Dharmavratananda ji, who served the Halasuru Math for 13 years and currently serves at Ramakrishna Math, Madihalli, presented an account of the Math’s growth since its inception. Two esteemed devotees, Smt. Rajeswari, a retired teacher, and Dr. Marappa, a prominent social worker, shared their five-decade-long association with the Math.
Swami Bodhaswarupananda concluded the session with remarks on the upcoming programs and a vote of thanks. The event saw the participation of over 1,500 devotees, and cooked food prasad was served to all.
Evening Program
The evening session began at 3:00 PM with silent prayer and meditation, followed by readings from “Sri Ramakrishna and His Divine Play” to mark Kalpataru Day. The day concluded with special Bhajans and Arati, attended by about 600 devotees.
This historic celebration is a tribute to the divine legacy of Sri Ramakrishna and an inspiration to all who seek spiritual growth and harmony.
