Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama, Varanasi hosted a spiritual retreat on August 18, 2024, exclusively for initiated devotees. Approximately 150 participants from Varanasi and beyond gathered to immerse themselves in a day of divine contemplation and spiritual upliftment.

The retreat commenced with a Vedic Mangalacharan and an inspiring inaugural song by Swami Bhedatitananda, the Ashrama’s Secretary. Swami Vishwatmananda ji, the Ashrama Adhayaksha, welcomed the devotees and emphasized the significance of such retreats in today’s fast-paced world.

The devotees offered Pushpanjali under the guidance of Swami Nityakrishnananda. Swami Atmashraddhananda ji, Secretary of the Kanpur Ashrama, delivered an insightful talk on the relevance of Sri Ramakrishna’s teachings for the current era.

A highlight of the retreat was a guided meditation session conducted by Swami Vishwatmananda ji. This hour-long practice proved to be a transformative experience for many, providing a much-needed respite from the stresses of modern life.

The post-lunch session featured a vibrant Sri Sarada Devi Naam Sankirtan led by Swami Shastravidananda and his team. Swami Alokananda ji eloquently described the tender bond between the Holy Mother and her devotees. Swami Janasthananda ji addressed the pressing need for the teachings of Swami Vivekananda in today’s world, while Swami Titikshananda ji discussed the different types of bhakti and the paths to spiritual realization. A question-and-answer session followed, allowing participants to delve deeper into the topics discussed.

Dr. Kishore P. Sarawedkar, a faculty member at IIT-BHU, shared his personal experience of the retreat and expressed a desire for more regular guided meditation sessions. The program was moderated by Utkarsh Chaubey.

The retreat concluded with a sense of peace and fulfillment, leaving participants inspired and rejuvenated. The delicious morning breakfast, lunch, and evening snacks provided sustenance for the body and mind.
