A one-day Sri Ramkrishna Kisan Mela (Farmers’ Fair) was organized on January 24, 2025, at Sirkapasra Bera village, Murhu block, Khunti.
Organizers: Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Morabadi, Ranchi, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute, Ranchi, and 12 Seva Sanghs of Murhu block.
The Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology (ICAR), Ranchi, and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, provided financial support for the successful organization of the farmers’ fair.
Theme: “Income Generation through Natural Resource Management.”
Key Activities:
- A farmers’ conference was organized to educate farmers on modern agricultural techniques.
- A representative of the Seva Sangh highlighted the various activities of the Seva Sangh, and emphasized the importance of promoting organic farming for a healthy life.
- Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Project Coordinator (In-charge), Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ranchi, welcoming all the guests, appealed to adopt organic farming along with modern agricultural techniques.
- Mr. Abhishek Uraon, Director of “The Open Field” company, highlighted the importance of various indigenous forest products and appealed to people to conserve natural resources.
- The head of Murhu block emphasized the need to adopt modern agricultural techniques to further increase prosperity from agriculture.
- Dr. Deepak Rai, Program Coordinator, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Khunti, informed about the future plans of KVK Khunti and appealed to the farmers to take advantage of the techniques learned in the farmers’ fair.
- The Project Director, Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Khunti, informed the farmers about the various schemes of ATMA in Khunti district.
- Shri Sudip Budia, President of the Zila Parishad, encouraged the farmers to reduce the use of chemicals in agriculture and pay attention to the better use of natural resources.
- Dr. Sujay Rakshit, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology, Ranchi, provided information about various schemes run by the institute for farmers and talked about promoting Vedic agriculture.
- Swami Antaranandaji, Assistant Secretary and President of the program, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Ranchi, underlined the efforts made by KVK to improve the living standards of farmers.
- Swami Devatmanandaji, Assistant Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, TB Sanatorium, Tupudana, thanked the farmers and emphasized on increasing education, culture, and human values in society.
Awards: Shri Hari Singh Munda, Sirkapasra Beda, Murhu, Khunti was awarded the Best Farmer Award. A total of 386 farmers participated with their exhibits in the crop and livestock exhibition, out of which a total of 81 farmers were awarded.
Other Activities: Various cultural programs were performed by the children of Akhandananda Education and Culture Center along with the villagers. Through the stalls of Divyayan KVK Ranchi, RKMVERI, ICAR and others, farmers were also provided with technical information. Swami Bhaktishananda recited from Sri Ramakrishna Vachanamrit, and inspired the farmers to move forward.
