Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Gurap observed the sacred Annapurna Puja with great devotion on 5 April 2025, as per the Vishuddha Siddhanta Almanac. Preparations began well in advance to ensure the smooth and ritualistically perfect conduct of the puja, which commenced with Adhivasa on the evening of 4 April. The following day was devoted entirely to elaborate worship — including the pujas of various deities, homa, aratrikam, and other traditional rituals.
On this blessed occasion, Most Revered President Maharaj-ji of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission kindly visited the ashrama upon invitation. He offered pushpanjali at the holy feet of Mata Annapurna and remained present for a long time during the puja, deeply moved by the devotional atmosphere. He also laid the foundation stone for a proposed dispensary at the Gurap Ashrama — a significant milestone for the centre.
About 25 monks from various centres joined the celebrations, singing devotional songs throughout the day, enriching the spiritual ambience. A grand Nara-Narayan Seva was organised, where around 3500 people from Gurap and nearby villages were served khichudi prasad.
On 7 April, a Sadhu Bhandara was conducted, with a total of 137 sadhus attending over the three days. The celebration culminated in a heartfelt immersion procession of the images of Mata Annapurna and Lord Shiva through the village roads — a first-time event in Gurap. The villagers joyfully welcomed the Divine Mother and joined the procession with reverence. The event left a deep impression on the local community, further strengthening their affection and regard for the ashrama.
