A 7-day Residential Summer Camp titled “Vasanta Vihara – 2025” was held at Sri Ramakrishna Sharadashrama, Ponnampet, from 20 to 26 May 2025, with 32 high school boys actively participating. The camp featured talks, workshops, and activities led by eminent resource persons aimed at imparting values, knowledge, and life skills.
The camp was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp and Vedic chanting by Swami Bhunathananda and Swami Mahapremananda, followed by inspiring talks from Swami Parahitananda and Dr. K. Anantram. Sessions on creative learning were conducted by Smt. Indira Ganapathy and Dr. Deepthi from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.
Daily yoga classes were led by Dr. Sinchana, and bhajans were conducted by Swami Vishishthananda. Dr. Anantaram, a retired professor from Mysore University, spoke every day, narrating stories from the Puranas, Ramayana, Mahabharata, and the Upanishads, and taught shlokas and moral values.
Other sessions included creative storytelling by Smt. Usha Murthy, English grammar by Dr. Sukanya, and value education classes by Swami Parahitananda. Sri Patil conducted an interactive session on “How to Study” along with a quiz, while Sri Bananda Ramesh introduced the students to the natural beauty and heritage of Kodagu.
Swami Dayasagarananda gave a special talk on the teachings of Swami Vivekananda. The campers were also taken on an excursion to Sri Mrutyunjaya Shiva Temple and Tata Tea Estate. On the concluding day, a Vidyarthi Homa was conducted inside the Universal Temple.
The Valedictory Function was presided over by Sri Mohant Gurmeet Singh Maharaj of Nirmal Akhara, Haridwar, along with Swami Harinathananda of Ramakrishna Math, Basavanagudi, Bengaluru. Students performed yoga demonstrations, recitations, bhajans, and patriotic songs. Prizes and certificates were distributed to all participants. The camp concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Swami Parahitananda.
