Training Workshop on Production Techniques for Oilseed and Pulses: Morabadi, Ranchi, February 2025

Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Morabadi, Ranchi, organized a one-day training workshop on production techniques for oilseed and pulse crops for agricultural scientists in the state, on 19 February 2025. The program was sponsored by ICAR Atari-Patna Zone-4.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Mohammad Monabullah, Principal Scientist, as the chief guest, along with Dr. D.B. Singh, Assistant Professor-cum-Principal, Birsa Agricultural University, Dr. Hemchandra Lal, and Srimat Swami Bhaveshanandji Maharaj, Secretary of the Ashram, who were the distinguished guests. Dr. Ajit Kumar Singh, Senior Scientist, Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, welcomed the guests and presented them with angavastram (shawls) and products produced by the institute.

The chief guest, Dr. Monabullah, highlighted the workshop’s objective to increase the productivity and production of oilseed and pulse crops under the Cluster Front Line Demonstration program. He emphasized the importance of expanding the area under these crops to reduce imports and minimize economic losses in the country.

Dr. D.B. Singh, Principal Scientist, Atari Patna, urged the scientists to identify the fundamental gaps in farmers’ agricultural practices and integrate the best management techniques for oilseed and pulse crops devised by the scientists to enhance production. He provided guidance to the scientists on designing appropriate techniques for these crops.

Prior to this, Dr. Hemchandra Lal from Birsa Agricultural University and the chief guest shared detailed information on managing pests and diseases in crops. The scientists were also encouraged to focus on selecting suitable varieties of oilseed and pulse crops in the state and ensuring the best package of practices.

Principal Scientists and Nodal Officers from 16 Krishi Vigyan Kendras across the state participated in the workshop. Dr. R.K. Singh, Scientist, Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, conducted the program. Dr. A.K. Singh, Senior Scientist, Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Dr. Neha Rajan, Dr. Visakha Singh, Dr. R.K. Singh, E.O.P. Sharma, and Deepak Pahan were among those present at the event.
