Tree Plantation Programs in Previous Years:

  • In 2022-23, as part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrita Mahotsav’ and 125 years of the Ramakrishna Mission, over 10,000 native tree species were planted by the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Jhargram, with the support of Lexmark International Ltd.
  • In 2023-24, 1725 trees were planted at schools and colleges in six blocks of the Jhargram district.

Tree Plantation Program 2024-25:

This year, with the support of Centuryply (India) Ltd, we planted 2000 trees.

I. Srirampur Site:

The primary focus of this year’s tree plantation program was a 5-acre plot of degraded forest land adjacent to our Srirampur sub-center, which was previously used as a municipal dumping ground. The site was cleared and prepared for plantation. The plantation program was officially launched on July 6, 2024, in the presence of the Chairman of Jhargram Municipality, Mrs. Kavita Ghosh, and the Sabhapati of Jhargram Zilla Parishad, Mrs. Chinmoyee Marandi. 1400 trees, including Sal, Mahogany, Shishu, Bakul, Jam, Sonajhuri, Arjun, and Ashok, were planted on this site by students of RKMVM (EMRS) School between July and September.

II. Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira (EMRS) Campus:

Our students planted 105 trees on and around our school campus between July and August 2024.

III. Sapling Distribution to Free Coaching Center Students:

Two saplings, one mango and one fruit tree, were given to 300 students attending our free coaching centers in Chandabila, Odalchua, Srirampur, and Auligeria. Guardians and students were encouraged to plant the trees near their homes and care for them as part of their overall development. The distributed saplings included mango, jackfruit, pomegranate, lime, sapodilla, java apple, jujube, sweet lemon, blackberry, and guava.
