Tree Plantation Programme: Manasadwip, July 2025

On 29th July 2025, a Tree Plantation Programme was organised by Manasadwip Ramakrishna Mission High School (H.S.) to observe “Aranya Saptaha” with great enthusiasm and participation. This initiative, undertaken with the support of Sundarban Zilla Police and the Gangasagar Coastal Police Station, aimed to promote environmental conservation and protect the green cover in the coastal areas of the Sundarbans.

The programme, held at Swami Ishtananda Hall, was themed “Cut the greed, not the green” and “Save Trees, Save Life”, highlighting the importance of sustainability and ecological awareness. The chief guest for the occasion was Shri Bankim Chandra Hazra, Hon’ble Minister in charge of Sundarban Affairs, Government of West Bengal. He was accompanied by Shri Partha Sarathi Saha, OC, Gangasagar Coastal Police Station, Swami Mahamritananda, the Headmaster of the school, as well as the teaching and non-teaching staff and approximately 250 students.

The programme began with an inaugural speech by Swami Mahamritananda, emphasizing the value of tree planting and nature preservation. Speeches by Shri Bankim Chandra Hazra and the OC of Gangasagar Coastal Police Station followed, underlining the role of trees in maintaining ecological balance.

The students, despite having completed their examinations, participated with commendable interest and patience. Towards the end of the programme, saplings and flower seeds were distributed among the students by the dignitaries. Additionally, on behalf of Gangasagar Coastal Police Station, sweets were distributed, adding a joyful conclusion to the event.

The programme by Manasadwip Ramakrishna Mission High School (H.S.) was a grand success, spreading awareness and joy through a meaningful celebration of nature.
