Unveiling Of Swami Vivekananda Statue: Taki, January ’23


The statue of Swami Vivekananda was unveiled on 4 January 2023 at Hasnabad within Taki Municipality near Banabibi Setu – the gateway to Sunderban with grandeur in the holy presence of Srimat Swami Suviranandaji Maharaj, General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math.

The Statue was unveiled by Hon’ble minister Sri Parth Bhoumik – in charge of irrigation and waterways, Govt. of West Bengal. On this sacred occasion, a public meeting in the form of offerings to Swamiji was organized at the feet of Swamiji’s Statue. Dr. Saptershi Mukherjee MLA of Basirhat South, Mr. Rafikul Islam MLA of Basirhat Noth and MR. Subodh Adhikari MLA of Bijpur graced the occasion. Mr Somnath Mukherjee and Mr Faruk Gazi respectively Chairman and Vice Chairman of Taki Municipality along with the SDPO Mr Debraj Ghosh were present as special guests. . This is the first statue of Swami Vivekananda installed in the 150 years old Taki Municipal area. Taki has a rich history of education and culture of more than 300 years old, but unfortunately, there was no statue of Swamiji. In that context, it is a historic event not only for Taki, Hasnabad but also for its surrounding areas like Hingalganj, Sandeshkhali i.e. Sunderban.
