Unveiling of Swami Vivekananda’s statue and a Photograph at Government Inter College, Almora

A fibre statue (6.5 feet) of Swami Vivekananda was unveiled on 23 July 2021 by Prof. Narendra Singh Bhandari, Vice-Chancellor, Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora inside the premises of the Government Inter College, Almora who later addressed the gathering. Apart from this, a large-sized photograph (6.5 feet) of Swami Vivekananda was also unveiled by Swami Shuddhidananda, Adhyakha, Advaita Ashrama, Mayavati inside the College Hall. The entire programme was an initiative from Ramakrishna Kutir, Almora and was organized in the very hall where Swami Vivekananda had delivered two lectures in the year 1897, one in Hindi on 27 July and another in English on 31 July.

 

The meeting commenced with the reading from the benediction message sent by Most Rev. Sw. Smarananandaji Maharaj President, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math by our brother monk.

Swami Dhruveshanandaji, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Kutir welcomed the gathering which was followed by speeches by several dignitaries of Almora and the teachers & staff of the college. While delivering his speech the Principal, GIC, Almora proposed naming of the hall as “Swami Vivekananda Sabhagaar” which was readily seconded and accepted by the Chief Education Officer, Uttarakhand Sri Harsh Bahadur Chand. Mr. Chand informed the gathering that a proposal would be sent to the Directorate of Education, Uttarakhand for its ratification and implementation in due course of time. Swami Shuddhidananda and Swami Vireshananda spoke on the relevance of Swamiji’s teaching and importance of Almora in the life of Swamiji. Sri Prakash Chandra Joshi, Chairman, Nagarpalika Parishad, Almora spoke about Swamiji’s love for the Himalaya.
