Values Education: Kalady, June 2024

Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama, Kalady, Kerala


The Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama in Kalady organized a series of value education programs in June 2024 for students of Brahmanandodayam Schools.

Focus on Understanding and Character Building:

  • On June 19th, Swami Yativarananda from Ramakrishna Mission, Thrissur, spoke to 193 students about the importance of understanding concepts rather than rote memorization. He also emphasized the values of truthfulness and righteous living, highlighting their role in personal and societal well-being.

Mindfulness and Concentration Techniques:

  • Swami Brahmaparananda conducted sessions for students of different grades:
    • On June 22nd, 160 Class IX students learned about mindfulness. Swami Brahmaparananda explained the benefits of staying present in the moment and guided a meditation session for relaxation and focus.
    • On June 25th, He also quoted Swami Vivekananda, emphasizing the importance of concentration in education and mind control. Students participated in activities like devotional singing and listening exercises to develop concentration and focus. A total of 160 students from various streams participated in this session.
    • On June 28th, Swami Brahmaparananda addressed 200 Class X students in the Ashram’s Shrine. He spoke about controlling the mind and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through practices like prayer, meditation, and ethical conduct. He emphasized core values like truthfulness, non-violence, and non-stealing. The session also covered the importance of good habits, a balanced diet, and avoiding harmful substances.

Overall, these programs offered students valuable guidance on developing their character, managing their minds, and achieving a balanced life.
