There are approximately 600 transgender people living in Thanjavur alone. They are neglected human beings in our society. Most of them are pushed to earn their livelihood by begging or in some inferior ways.
To make them respectable citizens, Ramakrishna Math, Thanjavur provided three cows a few months before to some transgender people to sustain their livelihood. On 13 November 2022, the centre put up a shed, named ‘Sri Saradamma Goshala’ for rearing the cows by a transgender resident of Udharamangalam, 3 km away from our village centre.
A small function was held on the occasion. Sri. L. S. Sathyamurthy, District Judge, Commercial Court, Chennai participated in the programme and encouraged the transgender community to become entrepreneurs and be self-dependent.
