Ramakrishna Mission, Kalyani organized a Youth Conference titled “Jago Veer” on December 9, 2024, aimed at discussing various self-reliance initiatives for socially and economically disadvantaged youth.
The program, which began at 3:00 PM at the Vivekananda Auditorium in the Ashrama premises, opened with Vedic chanting followed by a welcome address from the Ashrama Secretary. Dr. Abhijit Samanta, S.D.O. of Kalyani, was the Chief Guest, and Sri Sougata Patra, Deputy Magistrate of Kalyani, attended as a Special Guest. Other distinguished guests included Dr. T.K. Kumar from BCKV, Mohanpur, Sri Sourav Das from MSME, and Smt. Suchandra Sadhu from Utkarsha Bangla, Government of West Bengal.
Around 125 participants from nearby areas attended the event. The focus was on introducing self-reliant programs to the youth, many of whom were school or college dropouts, with a few continuing their education. Prominent speakers highlighted the various opportunities and pathways available through self-reliant programs, which could help the youth in building careers and sustainable livelihoods. The Ashrama Secretary assured the participants of ongoing support in their efforts to become self-reliant and find direction in life.
In addition, mentally and physically challenged students from the Halisahar Ramprasad Memorial Foundation for Disabled Persons were gifted Tempulin, a jumping machine, to aid in their development. A girl student from class XI was presented with a set of books under the Swami Prameyananda Book Bank scheme.
To ensure the comfort of all participants, winter jackets were distributed to the attendees, and tiffins were provided to participants and volunteers.
