To commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Ramakrishna Mission, a two-day non-residential Youth Convention was organised at the premises of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Silchar on 9th and 10th September 2023. The first day was for the students of classes VIII, IX, and X and the second day was for classes XI, XII, and students of degree courses.
The day of 9th September began with Vedic Chantings, followed by songs performed by hostel boys, the introductory address of Swami Ganadhishananda and a guided meditation class by Swami Vaikunthananda. Swami Hitakamananda ji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Shillong gave a valuable discourse on “Character Building is the Foundation of Life Building”. Swami Pranaruananda ji from Sri Ramakrishna Seva Samity, Haflong, spoke on “Man-making Mission of Swamiji”.
On 10th September, Revered Swami Balabhadrananda ji, Assistant General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, delivered a discourse on “Man-making and Self-reliant Teachings of Swamiji”. Revered Swami Hitakamananda ji focused on the auspicious Swadesh-Mantra and Swami Pranarupananda ji spoke on “Swamiji and Youths of India”.
Around 504 students and 120 teachers participated on the first day and the next day the convention continued with the participation of 525 students and 57 teachers. On both days, arrangement of lunch prasad was there for the participants and books of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda literature were distributed.
