Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Chandigarh successfully organized an essay and elocution contest on September 11, 2024, to mark the 131st anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s historic Chicago address.
The theme of the contest, “Role of Youth in Building a Strong Nation According to Swami Vivekananda,” attracted a significant number of graduate students. A total of 165 students from 27 colleges participated by submitting essays on the topic, while 15 students delivered speeches on the same theme. Shri Suresh Kumar, a former IAS Officer, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The winners were recognized with cash prizes, Swami Vivekananda’s literature, and certificates. All participants, including those who did not win, received participation certificates and a book of Swami Vivekananda’s messages in Hindi and English. The volunteers who contributed to the program were presented with Swami Vivekananda’s laminations.
Approximately 180 people attended the event, including a large contingent of students accompanied by their teachers and a few devotees and volunteers. After the program concluded, all attendees were treated to a delicious lunch prasad.
