Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama, Kalady celebrated Vishu with great fervour and devotion on 14 April 2024. This joyous occasion was further elevated as it coincided with the Consecration Day of the Universal Temple of the Ashram, adding an extra layer of significance to the celebration.
The day commenced with the ceremonial Vishukani being presented to Bhagawan Ramakrishna at 5:00 am. This ritual marks the beginning of the Vishu festivities, symbolizing prosperity and auspiciousness for the year ahead. Devotees gathered to witness this sacred offering. Following the Vishukani offering, special pujas and homa were performed at the Temple. These rituals, conducted with utmost reverence and adherence to tradition, aimed to invoke divine blessings .
At noon, devotees were served to the traditional Vishu Sadya, served as Prasad. The Sadya served not only as a culinary delight but also as a symbol of unity and gratitude among devotees.
In the evening, a grand procession was held around the temple premises. Monastic members and devotees participated in this procession, carrying the sacred photo of Bhagawan Sri Ramakrishna. As they made their way around the temple, devotional songs and chants filled the air, creating an atmosphere of spiritual fervor and reverence.
The celebration of Vishu at the Universal Temple, coupled with the Consecration Day festivities, was a resounding success. Through various rituals, offerings, and communal activities, devotees came together to honor tradition, seek divine blessings, and strengthen their spiritual bond. The day’s events served as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage and spiritual legacy upheld by the Ashram, inspiring all attendees to embrace the values of compassion, harmony, and devotion.
