Vishu Celebrations : Koyilandy, April 2024

Ramakrishna Math, Koyilandy celebrated Vishu, the New Year festival of Kerala on 14 April 2024.

The Vishu is marked by various customs and rituals. One of the main customs is the preparation of Vishu Kani, which is an arrangement of auspicious items such as rice, fruits, vegetables, flowers, coins, gold, and a sacred text. The idea is to start the year auspiciously by seeing these items first thing in the morning.

In this holy connection, we arranged a programme with the Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa students and devotees at our premises. The programme commenced with prayer, Bhagavad Gita recitation, and Bhajan. One of the GAP teachers gave a speech about the significance of Vishu and its message. At the end of the celebrations, students and devotees burst crackers, which is part of the Vishu celebration. We concluded the programme by distributing Prasad to the attendees.
